November 2015´╗┐
Wisconsin FFA members excel at National FFA Convention

2015-16 Wisconsin FFA Officers
on the national stage!

It was an exciting week in late October when 2,789 people representing Wisconsin FFA traveled to Louisville for the 88th National FFA Convention.

Along with their advisors and parents, these students spent the week learning and exploring the many facets of FFA.

From judging contests and award sessions, to workshops on how to share their individual story, our Wisconsin FFA members were challenged to bring their leadership skills to a new level.

The Wisconsin FFA Foundation is proud of all the students who made the committment to attend National Convention and also those that earned top honors. For a complete list of the Wisconsin members garnering national titles in 2015, visit the link below.

Nasco

Nasco, a Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, based mail-order company, has generously made an annual
donation to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation for over 40 years! This annual donation benefits Wisconsin
FFA student members across the state and the Wisconsin FFA is thriving thanks to generous donors such as Nasco.

In 2016, Nasco will be celebrating its 75th anniversary! Nasco was founded in 1941 by a
vocational agriculture instructor who developed several teaching aids to use in his classes that were eagerly sought by his colleagues. This simple act of filling a classroom need with an appropriate product became a way of life for Nasco in years to come.

"Since Nasco was founded by a Vo-Ag teacher, our roots are in FFA," says Chuck Miller, Nasco's director of Ag Sales. "We know that membership in FFA has a positive influence on the lives of youth and builds leaders. In addition, we know that today’s FFA members will be our future customers."

Nasco’s current Agricultural Sciences catalog encompasses all of the agricultural sciences: agriculture, horticulture, agronomy, plus a wide selection of farm supplies. This catalog offers one of the widest ranges of high-quality equipment available from any single source. The newest instruction aids for all areas of agriculture are available through this interesting and valuable catalog, including DVDs, computer software, agricultural tools and equipment, games, testing kits, and replicas. ´╗┐Dear Friend of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation,

What are you most thankful for today?

As we sat around our families' kitchen tables last week giving thanks for another year of blessings, I'm sure many things came to mind. (To be honest, my family celebrated a few weeks early. Brett Favre's number was retired and hung on the Lambeau Field wall Thanksgiving night and we were loyal to the end!)

I know one thing I am thankful for and that is YOU! First of all, thank you for allowing me to work in a job that I love and I know is impacting so many people in a positive way. Thank you for generously giving of your time, talents and hard-earned income to our Foundation and in turn, the FFA members of Wisconsin.

As they now turn in grant applications, study extra hours for mid-year exams or begin planning their summer fair projects, I am continually impressed with their determination and maturity. Together we are a family that supports these students through each phase of their FFA careers, and then says "job well done" as they enter this workforce and join many of us as colleagues.

In a few months our 2015 Annual Report will be released. You can read detailed accomplishments and financials of the Foundation and the Wisconsin Association of FFA. Last year's theme was "Target Success, Take Action" and I am proud to say it's obvious our FFA chapters did just that!

Have a wonderful holiday season,

Year-end money moves

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now year-end planning is in full swing. Whether thinking ahead for taxes or re-adjusting your investment portfolio, it's a true fact that tax advisors and financial planners are busy in December advising clients on the best use of their hard-earned dollars.

Charitable giving is a universally recommended way to reduce taxable income and also make an impact to an organization which means a lot to you. If you itemize your taxes and are in the 25% tax bracket, a donation of $100 gives you a $25 return.

The Wisconsin FFA Foundation is thankful for all our donors, big and small. Each dollar given is making a difference! Happy year-end planning!

Favorite FFA Activity: Leadership Conferences

I have had quite the adventure through my years as an FFA member and all these experiences wouldn't be possible without support of alumni, sponsors, and agricultural advocates. I have gone to many leadership conferences, but my favorite was the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC), out in Washington, D.C.

Throughout WLC, members are able to meet others from around our nation that share the same interest in agriculture and FFA. For one week, FFA members attend training sessions and tour various memorials throughout Washington, D.C. Members learn about service, leadership, and make connections with others while at this beneficial conference. I would recommend it to any member within the FFA.

I would love to thank the Wisconsin FFA Foundation donors for all the sponsorship that you give us. Through you, we are able to allow those who want to learn more about FFA to go to different leadership conferences to enhance their leadership skills. Thank you for providing support for these conferences where all the magic happens.

Thank you to all that support the FFA and the future of the agricultural industry not only in the wonderful state of Wisconsin, but within our whole nation!
