From Council Member Mary Norwood: City Council will consider legislation to FIX the Sewage-Filled Stormwater Discharges occurring from the Westside Combined Sewer Overflow Facilities (CSO's) which are contaminating our parks, creeks, and neighborhoods. Please plan to attend this important City Council meeting.

BITSY GRANT TO HOST NATIONAL PLATFORM TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Where: Bitsy Grant Tennis Center

Come watch some of the country’s top ranked platform tennis players complete in the Peachtree Paddle Invitational February 19-21. The Bitsy Grant Tennis Center, with a brand new three court facility, will be the host site for this year’s tournament. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged. The tournament features over 100 players from 15 states, with several former national champions in both the men’s and women’s draws.

The latest flooding on December 24, 2015 had a devastating effect on the banks along Peachtree Creek. Many sections of the creek banks had the vegetation washed away, leaving the banks exposed to further erosion. In other areas, sand was deposited along the banks covering the existing vegetation.

In accordance with Phase I of our master plan and after consultation with Trees Atlanta, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) and others, it was advised that action has to be taken in the near term and that plants appropriate for the eroded banks need to be planted before spring so that they can have a chance to take root and stabilize the banks.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) invites you to attend a Public Information Open House (PIOH) to discuss replacement of the Northside Drive Bridge over Peachtree Creek. GDOT routinely conducts studies to determine the adequacy and integrity of bridges and it has identified the Peachtree Creek structure, built in 1926, for replacement. This project proposes to reconstruct the bridge over Peachtree Creek, and the GDOT is seeking comment on the project and the preferred way to maintain traffic during construction. Come to review project displays, speak one on one with project staff, and submit your comments.
