Lent Term April  2025

Dear Hillian,
This is my second newsletter since my appointment in January, and I would like to take a moment to thank you for all the positive feedback I’ve received so far.

Our last alumni newsletter reached over 1,300 alumni and friends, and we saw it opened nearly 2,000 times - a great response that demonstrates the strength of our Hillian community.

I’m also pleased to report that we now have confirmed dates for many of the events previously listed. You’ll find these details, along with other exciting events, in the calendar below.

I also would be incredibly grateful if you could take a few moments to complete this Questionnaire. Feedback will be invaluable as we discuss the direction of upcoming events at our next Hillians Committee meeting.

Alumni Ambassador Programme Update
As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen connections within our global community, we  launched our Alumni Ambassador Programme two weeks ago. We’re in the process of appointing six Ambassadors who will represent various years and geographical regions.

Ideally, we’d like at least one Ambassador for each year group. Currently, we have strong alumni networks in the US, Australia, and Hong Kong, and we’re particularly eager to establish groups in these areas as soon as possible. If you’d like to get involved or learn more, please feel free to contact me.

We’re also pleased to announce that our first Ambassador Conference will be held online this June, offering Ambassadors from all corners of the globe and years, the opportunity to connect and collaborate with ideas and events.

Stay Connected
I also encouraged you to join the various social media groups and pages listed at the bottom of this email to stay updated on all things Kingham Hill. I particularly recommended joining the LinkedIn Kingham Hill School Alumni Career and Networking Group. We will be adding content to this group over the next few months. It’s great to see the growing numbers of members from the Hillian community.

Looking Ahead
I am eager to meet more Hillians and have had the privilege of connecting with many of you both in-person and online. Whether at events or through virtual conversations, I look forward to hearing your ideas and working together to further strengthen our community.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

An important Message from the Hillians Committee regarding Chill on the Hill

Dear Hillians,

After careful consideration at a meeting of the Hillians Officers on Monday 31st March, due to very limited interest in this year's Chill on the Hill event, the Hillians Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

We apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience that this may cause. Individual members of alumni who had made a booking to attend have been contacted separately and offered a number of different options.

As we work to ensure that future events better meet the interests of our community, we would be incredibly grateful if you could take a few moments to complete this Questionnaire. Your feedback will be invaluable as we discuss the direction of upcoming events at our next Hillians Committee meeting.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,

Andrew Mitchell Chair, Mark Foley Vice Chair, John Mann Secretary, Brian Dean, Vice President.

Alumni Ambassador Programme
The Alumni Ambassador Programme is a global initiative to bring alumni together from across the world.

We are looking for individuals to lead regional, school year and interest-specific groups related to sports or other shared passions.

As an Ambassador, you’ll be responsible for hosting at least one event per year; this could be a casual meet-up at a local pub, a virtual gathering, or any other creative event that fosters connection within your alumni group.

If you’re interested in becoming an Alumni Ambassador to help build these connections, please reach out to Alumni Engagement & Development Lead, Andrew Mitchell, who will be happy to schedule an online meeting to discuss the programme in more detail, including guidance on setting up a group and event ideas.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you’ll consider getting involved.

Billy Elliot The Musical
The Performing Arts Centre has brought back Billy Elliot The Musical, a show that captivated audiences for over a decade in the West End.

Set against the backdrop of the 1980s miners' strikes, the rise of anti-Thatcher sentiment, and the political battles of Arthur Scargill’s trade union, Billy Elliot The Musical tells the inspiring story of a young boy who discovers his passion for dance amidst deeply ingrained societal prejudices.

Kingham Hill Book Day
On Friday 21st March, Kingham Hill celebrated the magic of reading with its very own Book Day!

As is tradition, pupils arrived at school dressed as characters from their favourite fiction and non-fiction reads. From group costumes inspired by fictional fairy series Rainbow Magic to beloved classics such as Winnie the Pooh, many pupils embraced the books that first ignited their passion for reading as children.
