Article ImageThis month, we are excited to celebrate one of our most active volunteers, Megan West.

Megan has been involved with the YWRC for the past three years and volunteers as part of our Sit On It! event and Marketing committees. Her positive attitude and genuine commitment to supporting our girls and young women is evident by her willingness to share ideas and meet challenges head on. We are grateful for her time, energy and talent.

More than 400 guests joined us on Friday, March 3rd to celebrate the unveiling of the Louise Noun Library and the opening of The Well-Read Woman art exhibition! The library, which is composed of literature from Louise's personal collection, will be open to the public.

The Well-Read Woman show will be on view at the YWRC through the month of March. Pieces in the show were created by women of the DSM Girl Gang, who drew inspiration from books within the library collection.

Sit On It! creatively combines the support of local craftspersons, artists and businesses with much needed fundraising to benefit girls and young women in Greater Des Moines. This event began as an auction of 'sit-able' furniture items 18 years ago, and has evolved to include one-of-a-kind artwork, items and experience packages.
