A big THANK YOU goes out to ETG, Inc. and owner Tim Warzecha for providing excellent excavation work at a VERY affordable price.  It is this kind of partnership that allows Habitat to sell simple, decent and AFFORDABLE homes to our partner families in need of a hand UP.

The Erickson Home is Almost Done!

North St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce the home dedication for Tabbitha and Tailyn Erickson of Chisholm. The home dedication will take place on Wednesday, May 15th at 10 a.m. at 202 2nd St NW. The home will be open for tours from 10 a.m. until noon.

The Erickson home was built in partnership with the Applied Learning Institute, with the students and teachers of Hibbing and Chisholm High Schools’ construction classes providing the bulk of the labor.  These students and their teachers were joined by Tabbitha Erickson, her friends and family and long-time volunteer leader Harold Wentland.  This is the fifth home Habitat has built in Chisholm and the 12th built in partnership with the Applied Learning Institute.

This new home, which Tabbitha has helped to build and will now purchase, brings a big and wonderful change into this family’s life.  In discussing what brought her to apply to Habitat, Tabbitha told us, “Tailyn (her daughter, aged six) is special needs and, with our current home falling apart and its small size, it’s no longer possible for her to navigate the home in her chair.”  This new home changes everything:  “Life will be so much easier with my daughter:  to have the spare room she needs to grow and in a new home that is accessible to her!”  Upon learning that she had been selected, Tabbitha remembers, “I was so excited, jumping up and down!  This house is a dream to my daughter and me.”

Please join us in celebration of this new chapter in Tabbitha and Tailyn's life and see what a beautiful home these students and their teachers and mentors have built!

Join our Happy Crew of Mailers!

We build homes, communities and hope in many ways, one of which is getting the word about us and our partner families out through our newsletters.  Find out how fun a day of preparing a newsletter for mailing can be on Friday, May 31st!  We start at 9 a.m. with coffee an', work until we break for a delicious pizza lunch and we are generally done by mid afternoon.  Of course, we don't lock the doors, so come for part or all of the day.  However, RSVPs are required, as this popular event "sells out" and we certainly want enough food and beverages for everyone.  Reply to this email or call Susan at 218-750-2611 and let us know you are coming to help!

Seeking Mini-van Owners to
Drive Riders on July 16th!

Excitement is building as we prepare to welcome 135 riders to our area for the Habitat 500 bike ride!  On Tuesday, July 16th, the riders have a choice between taking a rest day, doing a 100 mile loop OR building with us in West Eveleth!  We anticipate 20 riders choosing the last option and so are seeking supporters with mini-vans to help bring these kind folks from the Hibbing High School to the West Eveleth build site and back that day.  We need drivers at 8 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. and you are also invited to join the crew for a delicious lunch provided by the Catholic Daughters of America, Eveleth Chapter!  Reply to this email or call Susan at 218-750-2611 to let her know you are on board!
