The Erickson Home is Almost Done!
North St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce the home dedication for Tabbitha and Tailyn Erickson of Chisholm. The home dedication will take place on Wednesday, May 15th at 10 a.m. at 202 2nd St NW. The home will be open for tours from 10 a.m. until noon.
The Erickson home was built in partnership with the Applied Learning Institute, with the students and teachers of Hibbing and Chisholm High Schools’ construction classes providing the bulk of the labor. These students and their teachers were joined by Tabbitha Erickson, her friends and family and long-time volunteer leader Harold Wentland. This is the fifth home Habitat has built in Chisholm and the 12th built in partnership with the Applied Learning Institute.
This new home, which Tabbitha has helped to build and will now purchase, brings a big and wonderful change into this family’s life. In discussing what brought her to apply to Habitat, Tabbitha told us, “Tailyn (her daughter, aged six) is special needs and, with our current home falling apart and its small size, it’s no longer possible for her to navigate the home in her chair.” This new home changes everything: “Life will be so much easier with my daughter: to have the spare room she needs to grow and in a new home that is accessible to her!” Upon learning that she had been selected, Tabbitha remembers, “I was so excited, jumping up and down! This house is a dream to my daughter and me.”
Please join us in celebration of this new chapter in Tabbitha and Tailyn's life and see what a beautiful home these students and their teachers and mentors have built!
