Building Strength, Stability and Self-Reliance through Shelter
Each year, hundreds of housing advocates unite in Washington, D.C., to call on Congress to support federal policies and programs that promote access to safe, decent and affordable housing around the country because 1 in 6 U.S. households
are paying half or more of their income on housing.

That’s why today, Habitat staff members, volunteers and homeowners are meeting with legislators on Capitol Hill to say that is unacceptable and urge members of Congress to support the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, a policy priority
of Habitat’s Cost of Home campaign. This important federal legislation supports the building and rehabilitating of singlefamily homes in distressed neighborhoods, enabling communities to thrive.

Take these three easy steps to join us in speaking up for the need for home affordability in your community:

1. Email your legislators. Take action by personalizing our pre-populated email to your members of Congress.

2. Get social. Click to tweet directly at your members of Congress. Social media is a simple and effective way to urge their support.

3. Share the graphic below on social media. Post why you support making the cost of home something we all can afford. Be sure to tag your members of
Congress.
