Fall Boutique is Coming / Coats Needed

Our annual Fall Boutique/Coat Sale will be happening October 24th - 26th!

Now is a great time to clean out closets (Marie Kondo made it cool to do so) and make an in-kind donation to the Council. We are collecting a variety of coats, jackets, scarves, hats, gloves, boots, etc. that are in good condition! Men's, women's, and children's (5+) are all greatly accepted and appreciated.

All sales from this event support the no-fee programs of the Council and help our Needham neighbors in need.

The Needham Community Council is now accepting applications for volunteer ESL tutors. Interested persons must be fluent in English and attend a free, 10-hour tutor training session. The training will be held on 4 consecutive Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 9pm on October 15, 22, 29 & November 5th.

Tutors can opt to work with an individual learner or with a group of learners as a conversation group leader. For more information, visit the ESL page on our website for a link to an online tutor interest form or call 781-444-2415, Ext 2110.

Child Assault Prevention [CAP] Program

The CAP Program is currently seeking volunteers for the 2019-20 school year. Each year CAP volunteers, working in teams of 3, present workshops to first, third and fifth grade classrooms in the Needham Public Schools, teaching the children that they have the right to be Safe, Strong and Free with their friends and peers, when they meet adult strangers, and with those who are trusted to take care of them.

The next CAP volunteer training starts on October 20th. Visit the CAP page on our website for information on the program and/or email CAP Director, Caren Nemtzow.

Thank You to Everyone Who Donated School Supplies

A huge thank you to everyone in our amazing community who donated hundreds of new and unused school supplies to our Back to School Supplies Program

With your help, we were able to distribute plenty of pens, notebooks, binders, crayons, glue, etc. to income-eligible students so that they are well prepared for the school year ahead, no matter their income or grade level.

As always, our programs wouldn't be possible without your support - thank you!
