UPCOMING FOOD DRIVES: Please help us fill our shelves for summer!

Mail carriers will be collecting non-perishable food donations, left by mailboxes and in post offices, to be delivered to the Council Food Pantry.

Saturday, May 19th
DeFazio Parking Lot
10 a.m. - 12 noon
 
Bring a donation for the Council Food Pantry and help "fill a truck". Little kids (and little kids at heart) are invited to explore the Town of Needham's DPW trucks.
 

FALL COAT SALE
 
Now that the weather is getting warmer, it might be time to look at your coats and closets.... We are collecting good quality & clean coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc. for our Annual fall coat sale. "Would you give it to your neighbor, if yes, then please donate it to the Council"
 
If there is still life and style left in your coat please consider donating it to the Council...we'll store it until our sale in early November.
 
Men's, Women's, Children's [size 5+].


DID YOU KNOW? WE LOAN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT!
 
Do you have a family member or house guest coming into town for Mother's Day? A graduation? A family event? Someone who needs a piece of medical equipment?
 
We will loan you a wheelchair, shower seat, commode, walker, cane, etc. for a short time or longer -- free of charge for Needham residents. Just give us a call or come into our office to see if we have what you need!

Project Bread: Walk for Hunger

Massachusets with thoughtful solutions to food insecurity - where they live, learn, work and play.

Tour Needham gardens, large and small. Tour includes a container planting garden with raffle and summer table settings garden!

The Needham Women's Club events raise funds to support non-profit organizations throughout Needham.
Happy May! May means...nice weather, Mother's Day, recitals, graduations, and lots of other spring events!

Our single biggest Food Pantry fundraising event in 2017! You can help make a major difference - join us as a team rider, volunteer and/or fundraiser!  
 
This year a new option has been added: outdoor spinning instead of riding on the street. Contact us for more details.
 
Each team member is asked to agree to raise a minimum of $300 with a goal of $1000. The registration fee of $75 per rider covers the cost of the event and is not counted towards the minimum fundraising ... please help us by joining Team Community Council and our fundraising effort! Every rider who reaches the fundraising level of $1,000 will receive a [highly coveted] Ride For Food bike jersey.

"BACK-TO-SCHOOL" SUPPLIES DISTRIBUTION EVENT
 
An annual event for Council Food Pantry families held at the end of August

 
 
We are collecting good quality back-to-school supplies to stock our annual distribution event. As the school year ends, we would be grateful for your donated items...new and/or used, but, please only donate items in good condition that any student could use; all grades, K-college level.
 
Stay tuned...we will be creating an online Amazon wishlist to make donating to this program quick and easy. 

 
THE KARMA OF CLOTHING: A NEW THRIFT SHOP PROGRAM 
 
Thanks to a generous donation from Mary Lou Andre's Dressing Well Charitable Foundation,

 
the Council Thrift Shop is now partnering to provide professional wardrobe advice, shopping assistance and clothing to clients of the Council and homeless shelters in the area looking to enter the workforce.
 
If you [or someone you know] meets the above criteria, please contact us to apply for this program.
 
As part of the program, Karma clients are given a professional wardrobe consultation and generous gift certificate to shop at the Needham Community Council Thrift Shop.
 
Participants walk out with complete new outfits and lots of inspiration and encouragement for how to put their best foot forward in the workplace with a well-styled appearance. 
 
Stay tuned as we prepare for a fall open house on Tuesday, October 23rd to showcase the Karma Program to the community!

 
BOSTON TOUGH MUDDER HALF

Hawthorn Builders and Charles River Strength & Fitness, both of Needham, have joined together to form a Tough Mudder team running to raise funds and awareness for the Council.
