Farewell Team Australia
Today Team Australia were farewelled in a ceremony at Rydges, Sydney International Airport before jumping on their Qantas Airbus A330 bound for Austria!
Special Olympics Australia board members, staff and supporters were in attendance to wish the team good luck.
Special Olympics Australia CEO Corene Strauss congratulated the team on their achievement.
“Congratulations to the members of our largest wintersports team ever at a World Winter Games. This is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication through regular training and competition. I know you will do yourselves and your country proud over the next 12 days.”
Our athletes and officials got a taste of the star treatment with Games broadcast partner ESPN in attendance to capture the excitement. We'll be sharing their stories in the coming days.
Send a herogram!
Get behind Team Australia by sending them a message of support via a herogram. You can send them to an athlete, official or the team as a whole and there is no limit on how many you can send!
Herograms will be shared with the team daily in the athletes village in Austria! Make sure to get your family and friends on the board to let the team know you are behind them.

Thanks ESPN & Bank of America
We would like to extend a special thanks to our friends at ESPN and Bank of America who came along to cheer on Team Australia at the farewell.
Over 20 staff brought plenty of colour, energy and excitement to the function, including forming a celebratory tunnel to officially send off the team.
ESPN and Bank of America have partnered together to coordinate celebratory send-offs of athletes, coaches and staff in selected locations around the world.
Torch Run Highlights
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg is well and truly underway, with the Flame of Hope making it's way across Austria towards Schladming for the Opening Ceremony on Sunday (AEDT).
There are plenty of Aussie LETR members doing Australia proud throughout the Torch Run but no doubt the star of the show was Special Olympics Australia athlete and Final Leg runner Andrew Negrelli who gave a resounding speech in St Anton.

Plenty of attention in Australian media for our stars of the slopes. Melbourne athlete Sara Molloy was featured on Seven News on Sunday Night. Click here to see the story.
The Cooma community have been getting behind their local representative Kristian Sandercoe. He was featured in the Monaro Post.
