| Message from our CEO |
In these remarkable times, we see the vital role of our courts, the judiciary, and the rule of law in our country. IAALS’ work is grounded in a belief that an independent judiciary is crucial to both the rule of law and the functioning of our democratic republic. As we work to innovate our civil justice system to make it more just, we build on these foundational principles.
I am reminded of an incredible series of blog posts that we hosted in 2016 in honor of Constitution Day, collected here, authored by members of IAALS’ O’Connor Advisory Committee. The collection of posts from leaders across our government, judiciary, and legal profession are as applicable today as they were almost ten years ago, and I encourage you to look back at their insights—on the simplicity and complexity of the rule of law, the gift of an independent judiciary, how easily the rule of law can be lost, and the importance of public trust in our courts. We are all responsible for ensuring the endurance of these fundamental principles and the continued viability of our justice system.
Let us continue to recognize and uplift those who are making a difference, ensuring that our legal system remains fair, independent, and accessible to all.

Justice should be accessible to everyone—not just those who can afford it. Yet, 120 million legal problems do not reach a fair resolution each year, and 70% of civil and family law cases include at least one side without a lawyer. The legal system is complex, costly, and out of reach for far too many.
At IAALS, we are working to change that. The Justice for All Fund fuels our efforts to reimagine the legal system—breaking down barriers, advancing innovative solutions, and ensuring fair and accessible justice for all. With your support, we can drive systemic reform and build a legal system that works for everyone, not just the few.
Justice for all is more than a rallying cry – it’s our promise. With your support, together, we can fulfill that promise today, and solidify it for generations to come. |
