A Party in the Park!
Join us on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 4-7 pm, in the meadow next to the playground, for food, fun and live music by guitarist and singer, Jay Memory!
A family-friendly event, Memorial in Motion is a belated celebration of AMPC's 10-year anniversary and a thank you to the surrounding neighborhoods for your ongoing support of AMPC and the park.
Pero's Pizza and King of Pops will be on site selling pizza and thirst quenching pops. Adult beverages, soft drinks, and waters will be available as well. Entertainment for children includes an afternoon of balloon making and face painting.
AMPC appreciates our presenting sponsor, Neeley Bain with Dorsey Alston Realtors, for making this celebration possible.
RSVPs are appreciated but not necessary by emailing info@atlmemorialpark.org.
Security Cameras
AMPC is excited to report that the security camera located in the parking lot behind the former Bobby Jones clubhouse on Woodward Way has now been integrated into the Atlanta Police Department's Video Integration Center (VIC).
The security camera at the Northside Drive underpass is only a few weeks away from being integrated.
AMPC appreciates the funding it received from former Council Member J.P. Matzigkeit's office, an anonymous donor, and AMPC donations to add these important safety improvements to the park.
AMPC and the Memorial Park Civic Association caring for the park together!
L to R: David Ball (MPCA board president) and Abbie McBurnette (AMPC board president)
The playground at Memorial Park was recently vandalized but AMPC and the Memorial Park Civic Association's board presidents, and AMPC's executive director came to the rescue. Using a lot of elbow grease, we removed the graffiti less than 24 hours after it was discovered.
As the saying goes, if you see something, say something. In this case, AMPC was contacted by a neighbor and removed the graffiti. In the case of a park emergency, contact ATL311 or 911, depending on the emergency, to report an issue.
Haynes Manor Recital Hall Update
On July 26, 2022, the Haynes Manor Recital Hall Foundation (HMRHF) kicked-off its public fundraising campaign by presenting to the members of the Peachtree Battle Alliance in the Haynes Manor neighborhood.
The HMRHF introduced the team that will transform the former Bobby Jones clubhouse on Woodward Way into a recital hall with a community gathering space and music education, shared the history of the clubhouse, and images of the renovation including the renderings above.
AMPC is honored and excited to be a part of this restoration project and will be reaching out to the other neighborhoods bordering the park to schedule presentations in the coming weeks. Please be on the lookout for an invitation from your neighborhood leader soon!
