Sewer Cleaning and Sewer Aerial Removal Update
AMPC appreciates the hard work underway by the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) to remove built-up debris from the sewer pipes in Memorial Park. Please see below for the latest update from DWM on their ongoing efforts and the work to commence soon on removing the two aerial sewer lines crossing Peachtree Creek between Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road.
The contractor cleaned appx 870 linear feet of one of the two 72-inch relief sewers and removed/disposed of appx 146 tons of debris. Crews will be back to clean the other 72-inch relief sewer next month and will then begin on the cleaning of the 90-inch trunk sewer.
Other good news is that the work to remove the two aerial sewer lines is expected to commence shortly after the New Year. The projected duration for the project is 10 months.
The projects should not impact the park, which will remain open to the public.
