Atlanta Memorial Park
Sewer Cleaning Update
AMPC appreciates the hard work underway by the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) to remove built-up debris from the sewer pipes in Memorial Park as part of the larger effort to re-line the main 90-inch Peachtree Creek trunk sewer that runs through the park. Please see below for the latest update from DWM on their ongoing efforts:
Crews are continuing efforts to complete the first phase, which consists of the inspection and cleaning of twin 72-inch trunk relief sewers. To date, the inspection and cleaning of approximately 590 linear feet of one twin conduit has been completed. After the wet debris was removed, dewatered and allowed to dry, it was determined that an estimated 64 tons of dry debris was removed from the pipe. Following the first phase, the second phase will consist of inspection and cleaning of the 90-inch diameter trunk sewer that extends from Northside Drive to Howell Mill Road.
Based on progress to date, DWM is estimating the overall schedule for completion of both phases to be December 2017. The project should not impact the park, which will remain open to the public. For the full report, click here.
