The 2020 U.S. Census
The 2020 Census is coming! Here's some important information:

Counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories
Determines congressional representation, how hundreds of billions in federal funding are allocated to the states, and provides data that will impact communities for the next decade.
The Census Bureau will never ask for your SSN, bank account or credit card numbers, money and/or donations, and your responses will never be shared with any other governmental agency.
Between March 12 - 20 you'll receive an official invitation to respond online

CAP Program News
Congratulations to the 8 new Child Assault Prevention (CAP) Program volunteers who successfully completed their 21 hours of CAP Prevention Specialst training in December. Welcome to the CAP team!
They spent many hours learning and practicing their facilitations and role plays and are now participating in their first classroom workshops, teaching children in the Needham elementary schools that they all have the right to be "Safe, Strong, and Free!"
If you are interested in paricipating in the next CAP training, please contact Caren Nemtzow, CAP Director, or Cathy Wong, CAP Program Assistant.

Thrift Shop Happenings
Great bargain alert! The Thrift Shop recently received a generous donation of a large number of women's clothing items (brand new with the tags still on) from a high end, popular retailer! Items are currently on the floor and available for sale at $10 a piece.
Come shop with us to take advantage of the new inventory and use this special coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase during the month of February.
Coupon must be printed and presented for use.

The Council Thrift Shop is a fundraiser. All sales support the no-fee programs of the Council and support our Needham neighbors.

Important! New Policies for 8th Grade Student Volunteers
We've made some key changes to our policy regarding middle school student volunteers. We can now only accomodate students at the 8th grade level; no groups.
There are two ways to fulfill school community service requirements, which include:
• Conduct a neighborhood Food Drive to earn 10 community service hours.
• On-site volunteer opportunities at the Council are limited to 5 middle school students per week (only one 8th grade student volunteer per day). Advance scheduling is required.
Make sure to check out the Policies for 8th Grade Student Volunteers page of our website for more detailed information and up-to-date policies and requirements.
