Letter from Liz Baker, Executive Director
Dear Chris and Sheila,
As you probably know, Spring is a pivotal time for us as we carefully plan for our campers to have the BEST SUMMER possible! Since our last Burgee in March, we have been very productive and I want to share what is happening as we prepare for our campers who will arrive for first session on Wed, June 19 for our 86th summer.
Here are the highlights and you can read more throughout this Burgee:
We launched our new website
Please visit our new website that contains our new Log Book, that will have Events, Blog Posts and other great information about camp.
You can also keep your eye on our social media sites where you can glimpse the beautiful and fun pictures (and maybe even a few short videos) of our campers having a most terrific summer. Please remember that Clearwater wants to preserve the "Camp Magic" which means we do not post every single day, every single event, and every single camper. We want to give our campers the opportunity (before the world sees) to share their unique, special experiences with their families and friends directly.
Our 9th Annual Memorial Day Work Weekend = Huge Success
We are certainly fortunate to have 27 returning and new volunteers who help us bring camp to life. The generous spirits and hard work of our Work Weekend crew moves us. These wonderful people have a love for Clearwater and the campers who will benefit from the Clearwater experience. From the improving the property to the variety of activities to learn, grow and have fun for campers, the work weekend volunteers help make our vision a reality.
New Additions to Camp (docks, railing, dressers, bathrooms, etc.)
We are pleased to share with you in the sidebar some new additions to camp that have been made possible by your generous financial support of Clearwater. Maintaining our buildings and property in a rustic tradition that is also efficient and safe for our campers is a high priority and you make this happen. Thank you!
Recruiting & Training Summer Team
We have also worked diligently to recruit a superior summer team with some "veterans" returning and welcoming newcomers. Pre-camp starts on June 9th where we have an intense 10-days of training that ensures our campers have the highest quality team supporting them this summer.
Raise Your Paddle
We have also launched our Spring Fundraising Campaign that will augment our Tripping, Land and Lake Activities. Your gift will work for our campers this season!
Last summer, we were lucky to be able to purchase new bike helmets, four more bikes, PFD’s, and more! Please review our Wish Lists below and consider contributing today. Every gift is important and helps us with providing the campers with the tools that help them grow as well as experience fun times.
Overall, I’m looking forward to a wonderful summer ahead with the campers and staff. Each person coming this summer will bring their own unique personalities and flare which we so treasure.
Wishing you a great summer ahead. Please feel free to reach out to me, I’d love to hear from you!
Warmly,
Liz
