As the buds begin to bloom, animals awaken, and we move into spring, South Carolina Interfaith Power and Light (SCIPL) invites you to join us in forging new relationships and advancing the care for earth and humanity. Before sharing about opportunities for advocacy, action, education, and networking, we want to open with a special prayer in preparation for the season ahead.
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy.
Guard me, O Holy Spirit, that I myself may always be holy.
— Augustine of Hippo

SCIPL is pleased to announce our Faith Leaders Civic Engagement Academy graduates!

SCIPL in collaboration with the SC Commission for Minority Affairs and Moms Clean Airforce recently concluded the first Faith Leaders Civic Engagement Academy with eight SC leaders who participated in all of the sessions.

Civic engagement refers to the process of learning about and influencing public policies. In this series, we heard from several speakers who have experience in government office on the best ways to become educated on the issues facing our communities, how to go about working within our system and how to organize others to make positive changes. Please stay tuned for future opportunities to participate in the Faith Leader Civic Engagement Academy!

Our Congregational Energy Efficiency Challenge program helps congregations reduce expenses by promoting and helping fund positive, energy-efficient and environmental changes. These changes free communities of faith to allocate more resources directly to their mission. Participating congregations complete an energy audit and consult with SCIPL staff and volunteers to develop a plan for increased energy efficiency in their facility. SCIPL works alongside congregations to provide technical coordination and educational outreach. Since launching the program in 2018, seven houses of worship have completed energy efficiency upgrades resulting in a projected lifetime savings of over $500,000 and 2.5 million kWh! Please contact SCIPL at for details.
