In March, we hosted the last of our Cabin Fever Series with deep sea researcher Dr. Lauren Rice. Participants learned all about what it takes to be a deep sea explorer in intriguing deep sea ecosystems.
Throughout March, Oceanside Middle School Gifted & Talented students attended a series of programs on ocean plastics. Students sampled Drift Inn Beach sand and water for microplastics, created ocean gyre models, and identified plastics under the microscope. Giving Tree Learning Center students investigated the migratory phenomenon of anadromous alewives through role-playing, graphing, and field exploration on Tuesdays with Alaina. This week, they went out to a local stream to check water quality and look for aquatic insects! The RSU 13 students had a blast with us studying Microplastics.
