Support Uplift Today

Dear Uplift Community,

It’s officially summertime in Philadelphia. Long, sunny days and school vacations, coupled with lifted restrictions on social distancing and mask-wearing, can make it seem like things are back to normal versus a year ago.

Here a
t Uplift, we remain realistic. While the lifting of restrictions should be celebrated as vaccinations increase,
race and social factors still determine whose lives can return to “normal.” We also remain vigilant to the continuing epidemic of gun violence within Philadelphia, which traumatizes our most vulnerable children. A reopening city also comes with thousands of residents who lost loved ones during the pandemic reopening their grief.

Despite
these losses, we still have reasons to celebrate. I am so proud of the partnerships Uplift forged and the programs and services we continue to offer.
Together with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center, we launched a program to help children and families in West and Southwest Philadelphia to build resilience against traumatic exposure to community violence, as well as grief and loss from the pandemic. The Philly HopeLine, which celebrated one year of service in May, now offers dedicated service hours for Spanish-speaking callers and LGBTQ+ callers that are staffed by clinicians who are members of those communities. Uplift’s virtual programs continue this summer with drop-in programs offered in both English and Spanish.

This past month, Uplift also culminated our 2020-2021 fiscal year with
an UPLIFTing evening, held on June 10th with an in-person event at Vie and a livestream available online. As our first hybrid fundraiser, the event brought in hundreds of attendees both in and outside the room. I am proud to share that the event grossed more than $305,000 toward Uplift’s general operations – our highest-grossing gala to date. I cannot overstate the support we received from key sponsors: Independence Blue Cross, NorthMarq Advisors, the Julianna Hike Fund, AmeriHealth Caritas, the Block Family, Broadridge, the Lafferty Family, Land Services USA, and PECO. Your gifts to Uplift recognize the value of the lives of the children and families we are privileged to serve.

As we move into July and August, Uplift continues preparing for a time when we can uplift children and families together, in-person. Thank you, again, for your continued support. I wish you and your family and loved ones a happy, safe, and restful summer.

With Gratitude,

Darcy Walker Krause
Executive Director

Thank You for Supporting
an UPLIFTing evening!
On June 10, Uplift supporters joined together both virtually and in person at Vie for an UPLIFTing evening, our first hybrid gala. We are excited to announce that the gross income for this year's event is more than $305,000. This money directly goes toward general operations and will be used to help Uplift run to the best of our abilities.
Whether you supported the gala as a sponsor, night-of donor, raffle ticket buyer, auction bidder, volunteer, or even as one of the hundreds who tuned in to watch our livestream, Uplift could not have accomplished this without you.

Missed the gala? Watch a full version of the event program online, along with video highlights, on our YouTube channel.

Uplift Office Closure: July 1-9

This office closure will allow us to be our best when working with children and families when we return. Uplift’s Tip Sheets, #UpliftAtHome resources, and the Support for the Helpers webinar series are always available online.
The Philly HopeLine will also be closed from July 1 – July 9. Any messages left to the Philly HopeLine or Uplift’s main line will be returned beginning Monday, July 12. If you or your child are in crisis, or wish to speak to a mental health professional, please use the links below to place a call to local and national hotlines and helplines.
