Mark Your Calendar: Thursday, June 25, 2020!
With other local arts companies, DCDC participates in a ten-hour online fundraising event titled Day of Giving: Preserving the Heart of Live Performance.
Please join us for this unique fundraising event that takes place on Thursday, June 25 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m.
You can participate via one of these three platforms:
https://www.daytonlive.org/) Facebook Page
Due to COVID-19, Dayton’s performing arts organizations had to cancel more than 100 performances. The impact of these cancellations has deeply affected all of Dayton’s performing arts companies. The measures we take to keep you safe during this pandemic also threaten the stability of the performing arts in our community.  We—DCDC—need your support now more than ever.
What does this online event entail?
After opening introductions by the participating arts companies, including a welcome from PNC Regional Manager David Melin, each organization will present itself on Dayton Live’s social media for an hour, sharing posts, videos, live streaming and more.
DCDC makes its appearance between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Facebook and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Instagram.
For each appearance, we will provide one hour of performance clips, interviews, commentary, and inspiration from some of DCDC’s dancers!
Please give your donation to DCDC via the DaytonLive.org website or by texting CREATE to 243 725. Of course, you can give at any time but this virtual fundraising opportunity will be lots of fun and will remind you why you support DCDC!
Other Dayton performing arts organizations that will participate in this virtual fundraising event are: Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, and Dayton Philharmonic), The Human Race Theatre Company, Dayton Gay Men’s Chorus, Dayton Dance Initiative, and Dayton Live (formerly Victoria Theatre Association).
PNC Bank and The Schiewetz Foundation will cover the expenses associated with this innovative endeavor. Dayton Contemporary Dance Company is very grateful for their support.

To DCDC: With Love
(Four sample letters expressing support for DCDC)
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, DCDC receives not only donations but, in some cases, handwritten letters showing their support with heart-felt words.
Here is the message from the large letter on the right side of the above image. It is addressed to DCDC’s Chief Artistic Administrator & Producing Director Debbie Blunden-Diggs:
Dear Debbie,
I enclose a contribution to the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
I very much enjoyed the company’s performances with the Paul Taylor at the Koch Theatre [located in New York City] and your company’s independent program at the Joyce [The Joyce Theatre in the same city].
No one can say when dance companies, musical performances and theatrical plays will start again, but I am an optimist and hope soon. When you do start performing in the New York area let me know so I can support your company in person. Best wishes to you and the company for good health during the pandemic and economic trouble.
We are very heartened by these kind and thoughtful sentiments. With friends like these, we know we have touched lives through the art of dance and community service.
As the letter says, best wishes to you for good health during the pandemic and economic uncertainty!
