August 2020 |
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We hope that you and your loved ones are all doing well and keeping both safe and healthy in these uncertain times.
Earlier this month and in collaboration with numerous partners, we proudly presented a successful Homelessness Week program of content. In other years, we have marked the week with our very popular Homelessness Conference. However, this year our program delivered content without requiring groups of people to come together. The program was very well received by our participants in the universities, the housing and homelessness sectors, our corporate partners and the general public. Links to some of the content are below.
We have also been thrilled that our Adelaide Zero Project data for July displayed good progress, and we are looking forward to the August data which will become available in the coming days. The Project's current data is always available on our website.
Otherwise, we have been delighted to once again support and participate in the South Australian Living Artists Festival throughout August. It’s been fantastic to see our local artists continuing to showcase their art despite the current challenges. You can find more about the winner of the Don Dunstan Foundation SALA Award below and on our website.
Warm regards, Ritchie Hollands Executive Director |

As our final event for the week, our mixed-media competition for university students yielded some outstanding entries and helped to shed light on issues surrounding homelessness. We

Competition Winner: Trinity
Liao Bachelor of Computer Science (Advanced), University of Adelaide Submission: Digital Art
Trinity describes herself as a
wonderful mix of contradictions, “I’m not always the most capable or reliable
person, but I make up for it in grit and endurance. I’m introverted but can
talk for hours if I’m with the right people. I’m a realist who tries to see
things from other people’s perspectives, but you will always hear me
encouraging friends to reach for their dreams. I love learning but loathe
studying”.
She is in her second year
studying Bachelor of Computer Science (Advanced) at the University of Adelaide.
She is interested in working as a software engineer or researcher at a
space/aerospace company, around innovative technologies
and with collaborative opportunities.
Alongside of study, Trinity volunteers as
a workshop volunteer at Robogals Adelaide, where she gets to teach students the
basics of programming a mini robot. She finds it particularly exhilarating seeing
engagement from young women and rural young people in STEM.
