Dear Friends of The Antioch Partners (TAP),
Greetings in Christ!
As a staff, one of our constant prayer focuses is the ability to maintain a quiet center of trust as we “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). As we pray this for ourselves, know we are praying this for all of you as well.
One of TAP's Core Values: Prayer
In terms of prayer, we all know prayer is essential to this Jesus-way of life God has invited us into and that’s why prayer is one of TAP’s core values. Specifically, our core value related to prayer reads, “Prayer is fundamental in everything we do. As we participate in God’s mission in the world, our basic responsibility is to be people of prayer. We are committed to this as individuals, and as a fellowship of Christ’s servants.” I’m quick to say we haven’t yet arrived in this regard. In other words, we are still growing as an organization in our understanding and practice of what it means that our “basic responsibility is to be people of prayer.” To that end I’m deeply grateful for all of you who are praying with and for us.
From the very beginning of TAP’s operational history (seven years ago this past summer!) we have seen God answering prayer in amazing ways: answered prayer in terms of specific needs of Partners, answered prayer for needs of local brothers and sisters around the world, answered prayer for TAP organizational needs, etc. As more and more TAP Partners are now serving in more and more places around the world, I cannot emphasize enough how vital your prayers are
. A great way to pray for TAP is to periodically read through the TAP bios on our website (http://www.theantiochpartners.org/partner-bios/
) and hold each of the Partners up in prayer. If there are specific Partners you would like to pray for on a regular basis, you can follow up with Hope Manley (email@example.com
) in our office and she can help you contact the Partner and get added to their regular email prayer update distribution list.
A Matching Grant Opportunity
As we shared in our last newsletter, we are excited all the TAP Partners will come together for the first time for a retreat in October of next year in Thailand. The purpose of this retreat is worship, spiritual renewal, learning and fellowship. Though this is a major undertaking, God has been providing in amazing ways as we plan and prepare. One of the amazing ways God has provided is by raising-up an anonymous donor who has provided a $25,000 matching grant that will cover a portion of the retreat costs
. We have already raised about $13,500 of this amount and that means we have $11,500 more to go. I invite you to prayerfully consider this giving opportunity as a way of blessing all the TAP Partners
. You can give online by clicking here
(select “Partner retreat” on the drop down menu under, “Please direct my donation to:") or you can mail a check (note on memo line of check it is for “Partner retreat”) to:

As we move towards the holidays and year-end and all the related demands and activities, may we be people of prayer; people who are living out the call to “pray without ceasing.” I am reminded of a quote from Walter Wink in “Sojourners Magazine” that was shared by Pastor Sunder Krishnan at Urbana 09:
"Intercessors have an essential role to play in creating a better future for our world, because intercession is spiritual defiance of what is, in the name of what God has promised. The shape of the future will be determined by those who can survey all its various possibilities and who, by faith, latch on to one as inevitable. History belongs to the intercessors who thus believe the future into being."
