The Holy Spirit and the Celtic Wild Goose

Sr. TerryDear Friend,

There are a variety of images in both Scripture and tradition that help us to grasp the meaning of the Holy Spirit. In the Celtic tradition the Holy Spirit is represented not as a peaceful dove but instead as a wild goose. The wild goose reveals a spirit which is passionate, noisy, and courageous.

Theology on Tap a Hit in Silicon Valley

In the Diocese of San Jose, California, a group of young adults have successfully reached out to their peers by using RENEW International’s Theology on Tap program. Theology on Tap is a series of events centering on faith topics that are of interest to young adults. These events are held in restaurants, parish halls, coffeehouses, and bars — places where young men and women are comfortable. ToT events feature a speaker who presents a theological topic and then provides time for discussion, faith sharing, and community building.

Renewing the Priestly Heart
Fr. Abraham Orapankal and Sr. Maureen Colleary, FSP, introduced the priests of the Diocese of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, to Renewing the Priestly Heart at the diocese’s annual convocation of priests June 2-4.
Renewing the Priestly Heart is RENEW International’s resource to engage priests in small groups for faith conversations. Presentations included:
  • Experience of Priests Today: A Call to a Renewed Heart
  • Building Priestly Communion and Fraternity for the Sake of Mission
  • Presbyterate: A Community of Small Communities
Fr. Abraham and Sr. Maureen said they were very moved by the faith sharing that took place over the two days of the convocation, and the priests were touched by the depth of their brothers’ commitment and love of the priesthood.
