God Answers 'Knee-Mail'

Dear Friend,

When we send an e-mail to someone, we can’t be sure of its fate. Will the recipient read it and then delete it or delete it without even reading it? We should have no such doubts when we pray. God hears all of our prayers, just as Jesus promised.

ARISE Inspires Group to Help
Family Coping with Illness

Members of a Kentucky parish in the Diocese of Owensboro, Kentucky, who participated in ARISE Together in Christ were inspired by the experience to reach out beyond the confines of their church to assist a local family.

Catholic adults who joined ARISE small groups at St. Romuald Church in Hardinsburg decided to apply the lessons of the Gospel to everyday life by making meals for a family whose mother was under treatment for cancer.

In this way and others, the ARISE participants put their faith into action, and they can’t wait to see what the next season prompts them to do.

Priesthood Sunday is October 27

Renewing the Priestly Heart
Take a moment on Sunday, October 27, to speak a word of gratitude and encouragement to a priest in your parish or family on this national day designated for priests.

Started in 2003, the last Sunday of October was established as time to affirm the many devoted priests serving in parishes across the country. Priesthood Sunday is coordinated and sponsored
by the USA Council of Serra International, a Catholic organization of lay men and women dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

With reflections and prayers themed to priestly life today, RENEW’s resources, Renewing the Priestly Heart book and audio edition, would make a thoughtful gift for favorite priests.

The video series is also available in Spanish as Cambios de rumbos: Historias de testigos.

God's Gift: He Hears Our Prayers

Prayer is our privilege. This may sound strange, but when we pray it means that we first have a relationship with God—a God we believe in and trust, a God who loves us and therefore extends to us the privilege of speaking to him whatever is in our hearts.

As we reach out to God—to Love—we begin by pausing to acknowledge that God is present to us. It is out of this heartfelt connection that we then present to God—with confidence—our needs and petitions.
