St. Dominic and the Gospel of Matthew

Dear Friend,
 Article Image
As a Dominican Sister, I have a special love for the Gospel of Matthew, because our founder, St. Dominic, carried with him copies of this Gospel and of the letters of St. Paul. It is said that he knew them by heart! In fact, Matthew’s Gospel was central to St. Dominic’s prayer and preaching. Because of this background, I have been especially inspired by the newest book in the RENEW Scripture Series. Small-group ideas that work:
Make Scripture the heart of faith-sharing

RENEW International has been creating small-group resources for nearly forty years and has always placed scripture readings at the core of every session. We do this because sacred Scripture is the inspired word of God and contains everything we know about Jesus. Click HERE to read about how your small group can make the most of the scripture content in your faith sharing.

RENEW on the air in South Africa
Residents of southern Africa will have a chance to get a taste of small-group faith-sharing on a program to be broadcast twice a week on Radio Veritas, a Catholic broadcast station and web site. The program was the brainchild of Duncan Hyam, coordinator of RENEW Africa and Why Catholic? in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg.

The recorded one-hour programs, which Duncan will produce and host, will feature a pre-rehearsed small-group faith sharing with one of the RENEW resources. Various language groups of South Africa will participate. Duncan said the program, which will run continuously rather than in seasons, will eventually use Lenten Longings, At Prayer with Mary, and ARISE as well.

Duncan said listeners who own the RENEW faith-sharing books will be invited to follow along.
