ARISE/LEVÁNTATE launched in Brooklyn Parishes
Thirty-six parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn have completed the first season of ARISE Together in Christ/LEVÁNTATE. Unámonos en Cristo. Participation among Spanish-speaking parishioners was enthusiastic. For example, the Church of St. Leo in Corona had 26 Spanish small groups; St. Michael’s Church in Brooklyn had 14; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, also in Brooklyn, had 12 Spanish, three English, and one Haitian Creole. Some 432 people attended the last ARISE workshop, which was held in September.

 Step up your Lenten experience!

This Lent, you can really experience the season in a fresh way with a new resource from RENEW International. LIVE LENT!—written by RENEW’s own Sr. Terry Rickard, OP—helps you create a personal 40-day Lenten plan. It invites you to explore the Sunday Gospel readings for each week of Lent along with Old Testament insights. What’s more, each day, you will find short reflections and prayer prompts in a journal format. Along the way, action suggestions encourage you to truly “live Lent.”

Perfect for use with your small group, as well as on your own.

ARISE has an impact in Monterey parishes

St. Patrick's Church, Arroyo Grande, California

Members of small groups in the Diocese of Monterey, California, have completed the fifth season of ARISE Together in Christ / LEVÁNTATE Unánamos en Cristo, and participants have been enthusiastic in their accounts of the experience. A participant from St. Patrick's parish in Arroyo Grande reported that some small groups took food to homeless people living in nearby parks, and they were received with a great deal of appreciation.

Giving the gift of life — insurance
Recently, a friend of RENEW International called to ask if we accepted gifts of life insurance. The answer is absolutely yes—through the Msgr. Thomas A. Kleissler Legacy Society. Our caller had determined that his coverage was more than sufficient for his family needs, and there was some additional coverage that he was going to drop. He transferred the excess coverage to RENEW as the new owner and beneficiary.Situations like this can benefit both the recipient and the donor—for whom the donation is a potential tax advantage. Please contact Sr. Honora Nolty at 908-769-5400, extension 162, to discuss a gift of life insurance. We will put you in touch with advisors who can help you make the right decision, for you and your family, about your life … insurance!
