NCCD Celebrates Fundraising Success
An anonymous donor issued a fundraising challenge to the NCCD Board of Directors late last year: Raise $50,000 by the end of 2017, and those dollars will be matched 2 to 1. Due to the support of many donors and the work of board and staff, NCCD met and exceeded this challenge.

“NCCD and its board are incredibly grateful to this donor for the matching gift,” said Chief Executive Officer Kathy Park. “We are also thankful to all of the individual donors and foundations who gave generously to help us reach this goal. The children, adults, and families in our country’s justice and social service systems will benefit from your support.”

Blog Highlights SDM® Model Implementation
Staff-written blog posts in January highlighted two projects that serve as noteworthy examples of Structured Decision Making® (SDM) model implementation. In the District of Columbia, Adult Protective Services (APS) is implementing SDM® assessments in an effort to step up its commitment to the vulnerable adults it serves. Karen Meulendyke wrote about the process in her blog post, outlining the steps DC APS is taking—which are ideal: customize, test, tweak, test some more, program, certify, train, and implement; to be followed by a process evaluation.

Jess Haven wrote about NCCD’s work with the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department to update SDM assessment tools and train supervisors on advanced practice skills. Pointing to the department’s stakeholder group outreach and high-level partnerships, Haven said that having such a diverse group of stakeholders speak a common language bodes well for the safety of New Mexico’s children.
