Life is like a 10-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use.

Empowering Youth Through Bicycles
Goings On...
Fall is here! Fall is here! There is no better way (in my humble opinion) to enjoy this time of year than riding a bicycle. We have a LOT of that going on with El Grupo this month, as usual. Check it out below.
It also means that our daylight will begin to creep away towards the end of practice (and the end of the month). PLEASE start bringing lights with you!! If you don't have any, ask. We have some lights, and encourage you all to partake in Light the Night! (We may do so as a team, if needed!)
REMINDER: A word on housekeeping: please check out the new chore list at the clubhouse (see Keenan or Lindsay with questions on it), new designated space where to place ALL your belongings during practices on the shelving in the SE corner of the clubhouse, and the friendly signs: Please clean up after yo' self! These are great additions to keeping us all organized and working smoothly at the clubhouse - let's all play our part!
El Grupito!
We are so very excited to WELCOME nine youth riders and their families to "El Grupito" and the greater El Grupo family. They are off and riding - Mondays & Wednesdays - with some super fun weekend rides to come. We welcome everyone's feedback and input as we grow this pilot program in the coming years.
Save the Dates for El Grupito participants:
October 18th: We hope you join us for Kidical Mass!
October 19th: Mountain biking trip! 11am - 4pm?
We hope to take the group out to HoneyBee Canyon Loop. More details to come soon
November 2nd: Cyclovia Tucson - There will be opportunities to volunteer, ride, and maybe even participate in a Cyclocross race!
Note to Parents: please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before practice starts so they can all get out the door and back in on time!
Events Upcoming...
Round 2: Individual Check In Meetings
If you did not have a check in meeting in August, please sign up for one here. These are very important to us, and we hope you value them too. Sign up and come prepared. (If you just joined the team, we will do these again with you at the end/start of the year.)

Kidical Mass Tucson - Sat October 18th 12pm
El Grupo co-hosts a slow-paced community bike ride for all ages and abilities. This month will take us to Howell Elementary and Himmel Park. EG youth are expected to be mentors and leaders, and we all enjoy Ice Cream at the end!
Fall Fondo Fundraiser - November 16th
We will need your help to make this inaugural year of the Fall Fondo a success. We are capping the ride (not race!) at 250 people, and registrations are coming in! Please be sure to pass along the info, sign up if you would like to ride, or plan on volunteering in some capacity to enjoy the event and make sure everyone else does, too. All youth riders will be expected to participate in some volunteer (some riding assistance) capacity. Parents - they will be in good hands, so feel free to sign up and enjoy the ride!
El Tour de Tucson - November 22nd
Only youth on Team El Grupo who have not yet done El Tour before are signed up to ride the 55 mile distance as a group this year. If you have done it before, but would like to participate, please talk with us. We will find fun ways for the rest of the team to support those youth and the event, too.
As usual, more details will be posted on the blog in the coming days/weeks about all of these... Thanks!
Volunteer Day
United Way Days of Caring Opportunity
El Grupo is hosting our first ever official "Day of Caring" on Wednesday, October 22nd 10am-1pm and would love your help or your help spreading the word!
Does your workplace participate or know someone who does? We will be cleaning, re-organizing, and painting as we continue to make the clubhouse more functional and presentable. Check out more info and sign up
Mechanic Hours -Fridays 2pm -6pm
Expect the blog to post upcoming set workshops starting at 4pm this Friday!
If you have a specific mechanic skill set you would like to learn, please talk with Colin, Shawn and/or Ignacio about it.
Also, Fridays are a great day after school to get your bike(s) cleaned up and ready for the weekend.
Tuition Reminder
You should be receiving both receipts and friendly reminders from Lindsay and Daniela as we grow and delegate out administrative tasks.
Please consider setting up a recurring payment prior to the 15th of each month, or making your payment by that time.
We know you value all that El Grupo offers and you know what a value it is. Thanks for doing your part!
