FOOD PANTRY SUPPORTS NEEDHAM RESIDENTS DURING PARTIAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
1 in every 9 people in MA, including working families, children, the elderly and people with disabilities receive SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – formerly food stamps] benefits.
Due to the partial federal government shutdown, February SNAP benefits have been issued early to most recipients, but there will not be any issued in February.
To help manage during this difficult time of uncertainty, the Council is offering Needham households already registered with the food pantry additional visits to shop for grocery items. All households currently shopping once per month are now invited to come for a second visit, as needed and families with school age children, who are currently shopping twice per month are now invited to add a 3rd visit, as needed.
Any Needham household not currently registered with the Food Pantry is invited to contact us for a one-time visit. A food pantry registration can provide additional food supports until they are no longer needed, be it a week or a month or a year… |
