What IS that in the creek?
A submerged tire - one of 41 pulled from Peachtree Creek on April 9th during Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's (CRK) annual Sweep the Hooch. Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers including AMPC members, Home Depot and Novelis employees, CRK volunteers, and DPR NW maintenance crew AMPC removed 4,725 pounds of trash from the creek and 41 tires. Thanks also to Peachtree Creek's upstream neighbors from the Collier Hills neighborhood, who along with other volunteers, removed 3,200 pounds of trash and debris from Tanyard Creek.
In total, 532 volunteers removed 15.4 tons of trash from Atlanta's rivers and creeks - a record amount for CRK. For more information on this multi-site clean up day, click here
