Here's how we are helping our clients
We were contacted by a representative from the Department of Children’s Services in Northwest Indiana. They contacted us in regards to a foster child who is 12 years old and has cerebral palsy. DCS is working with the mom to help get her back on her feet. Unfortunately, she’s having a lot of difficulty finding staff who can support her son while she goes to work, so mom has been unable to work consistently. There is an agency that serves the community with child care but they have been unable to find staff.
We gave them a few options: One, under the Medicaid waiver rules you can pay family members or friends to care for your loved one. Second, there may be other people in that community who are looking for staff as well, which could lead to an opportunity of sharing staff hours so one staff member could support two clients.
