God of autumn, the trees are saying goodbye to their green, letting go of what has been. We, too, have our moments of surrender, with all their insecurity and risk. Help us to let go when we need to do so.
-Joyce Rupp

Dear RENEW Friend,
Summer is over and I am back in the full swing of an overbooked calendar, lots of travel, and much preparation for upcoming presentations. It is difficult to pay attention to one of the most beautiful seasons of all—autumn. Seasons can teach us much about life. Fall reminds us that everything changes—nothing remains the same. I want to go with that more and trust God's providential care.
Take the time to sit and watch the leaves turn, pray for the grace to let go, and praise God for the beauty of creation.
Autumn Blessings,
Sr. Theresa Rickard, O.P., D.Min.
President & Executive Director
-Joyce Rupp
Estimado/a Amigo/a,
Hermana Theresa Rickard, O.P., D.Min.
Presidente y Directora Ejecutiva

ARISE for Youth Urban Retreat Highlights
Eight young people from St. Augustine Parish in the Bronx, New York, continued their journey to be youth leaders at the Lead Me, Guide Me retreat in June as part of the ARISE for Youth Urban program. They participated in activities such as sculpting clay, journaling, and engaging in personal reflection to bring them closer to God, enrich their spiritual lives, and prepare them to lead other youth in their parish. This retreat was possible because of generous funding from the William E. Simon Foundation and individuals like you. Please consider supporting RENEW's youth ministry!

Serving the Lord with Kindness
Recognizing RENEW's Long-Time Volunteers
How we serve the Lord is a personal choice. Joe and Helen Penczak, parishioners of St. Joseph in Roselle, New Jersey, have volunteered at RENEW longer than most of us have worked at our jobs. For 20 years, everyone in the RENEW community has been affected by some project this vibrant couple has worked on.
Joe and Helen choose to actively impact the RENEW community, not only with their services, but with their humor and spirit. Read more about their story of giving and find ways to support RENEW's mission.

Renewing Family Faith
When 550 family specialists were asked what was the most important trait of a healthy family, the number one answer was communication. Family experts also agree that television is one of the biggest deterrents to real communication.
Decide as a family two things you will do to help improve your communication at home.

The Holy Spirit at Work!
"One of my facilitators did not feel that she would be able to lead her group again this season, but the Holy Spirit worked through the hostess and members of her group to help her realize what purpose God had in having her facilitate this particular group. She called me soon after their first ARISE meeting and was overjoyed, feeling blessed abundantly and very happy that she listened to where the Holy Spirit was leading her!"
